Dr. Woodin, aka Shawn, passionately works for student success in higher education. Beginning July 2016, Shawn will take on the role as SSF’s President/CEO. Previously, he served as Interim Executive Director at CCID - Community Colleges for International Development, Inc., an association of 130 community and technical colleges creating globally engaged learning environment, followed by a position as the National Director of the Community College Initiative Program, a full scholarship program that served over 1,400 non-elite students from developing nations to study at U.S. community colleges.
Prior to CCID, Dr. Woodin served as Kenya Program Administrator for Indiana University's School of Medicine while living in Eldoret, Kenya. His previous experiences also include social services, urban planning, economic development, and serving as a National Peace Corps Association Volunteer.
With over 20 professional development workshops and presentations for local, national, and international audiences, he also published three articles in peer-reviewed journals to date. His professional travels include activities in Canada, Egypt, El Salvador, Finland, Kenya, Nicaragua, Russia, and South Africa.
Dr. Woodin completed his Doctorate in the University of Florida's Leadership in Higher Educational Administration Program in 2014. He also holds a Master’s in Community and Economic Development as well as a Bachelor’s in Business Management. When not working he spends time with his wife and two children, cooks for them, or lazes on his indoor hammock.
