David Nelson is a Maintenance Assistant for Southern Scholarship Foundation's Tallahassee campus. David helps maintain the houses, the maintenance shop, study hall, gazebo, and SSF office. He does a little bit of everything electrical, plumbing, HVAC and anything else that is required to keep the grounds in top notch condition so the houses will be comfortable and feel like home to our SSF residents.
He has many years of experience in the field, including 16 years in the cast iron and steel pipe making industry and 19 years in the coal mining industry as a welder and mechanic. He also served in the U.S. Marine Corps and is a proud veteran. David believes in the SSF mission and is happy to be an SSF team member.
Between him and his wife Shirley, they have 8 children and many grandchildren. David is a devoted member of Immanuel Baptist Church and attends services on a weekly basis.
