Kayleigh Whitman is the Foundation Liaison and Executive Assistant for Southern Scholarship Foundation. In this position, she works closely with Mickey and the rest of the staff to ensure that the office and the Foundation operate smoothly. Prior to beginning her position at SSF, Kayleigh worked as a teaching assistant and tutor for the Myra Kraft Transitional Year Program at Brandeis University. She is so excited to be working with a team that shares her passion for helping others and looks forward to contributing to the great work being done here.
Kayleigh in an alumna of both SSF and Florida State. After graduating with her Bachelor’s Degree in 2014, she left Tallahassee and moved to Boston where she completed her Master’s Degree in History at Brandeis University. During her time at Florida State, Kayleigh served the Tallahassee community in various ways, most extensively as a mentor with the Special Olympics Athlete Leadership Program of Leon County. She also volunteered with the Boys and Girls Club, Gretchen Everhart School, and worked on the planning committee of Light the Night Walk for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. She is a sister of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority and was a member of the Marching Chiefs. While at SSF, Kayleigh lived in the McKaig House and was honored to serve as their business manager, social chairman, and Education for Life 5k race coordinator.
In her spare time Kayleigh likes to read - unsurprisingly most are books about history - and spend time with her family and friends. She is an aspiring puppy owner, so hopefully she’ll have a furry friend to occupy her time soon! Follow her at @Kayleigh_SSF!
