Resident: Amir Wilson
House: Malthouse
My name is Amir Wilson and I live in the Malthouse Scholarship House. My major is Management Information Systems and I am a sophomore at Florida State University. I am 20 years old and I was born in Jacksonville, Florida in the Orange Park Area. I went to William M. Raines High school and graduated in the top of my class in 2018.
I found out about SSF when I was applying for colleges. I put it off at first because I wasn’t sure how I felt about living with a bunch of guys. At the end of my freshman year, I applied to SSF and got in. I first moved into SSF during Spring 2020.
In my free time, I enjoy video games and often play video games on either PS4 or Nintendo Switch. Gaming has always been a hobby of mine ever since I was a kid. I now work for an organization called Union Productions/ Club Downunder at Florida State University. Union Productions is Florida State’s premier student-run programming board. We plan and put on free events for the students at FSU at least 3 days a week. The types of events that we host are concerts, comedy shows, lectures, culture and arts events, and co-sponsorship events. I am currently the Co-sponsorship Coordinator for Union Productions, which means I work with other organizations to organize events.
After I graduate, I would like to work as an IT consultant or a business consultant. My degree in Management Information Systems allows me to work in the IT and Business career field which are both growing. That allows for career and financial security. In my ideal job I would like to travel. I also enjoy working with people and have a passion for working with technology. Being an IT consultant takes all of those interests and passions and combines them together.
I would like to live in Oregon later in life, and probably settle down there. Oregon is a beautiful state with a coast, and a variety of environments. Within the same state there are deserts, forests, mountains, plains and canyons.
